Hi I'm Michael, a writer, author, and podcaster
I write and publish on Japan, contemporary politics, and Christian spirituality.
MY BOOKS
The Last Days of Old Japan
Inspired by Chinese ancient fantasy epics and Japanese samurai dramas, this series of novels has Japanese monsters living incognito in modern Japan, who mistake the appearance of one man as the potential harbinger of the end of days. The first novel, 'The Third Tsunami,' is being translated into Japanese called in Japanese, 'The Red Bridge.'
Nathaniel Chambers novels
This historical novel series follows the life of Nathaniel Chambers, an Englishman who has lived his whole life in China. A veteran of the Opium Wars, Eureka Stockade, Taiping Rebellion, and a former member of the Ever Victorious Army, Chambers is mourning the death of his wife when he is forced to return to Australia to settle the affairs of his late brother in the gold rush town of Gulgong in 1872. The first novel is titled, 'The Curse of Crooked River.'
Academic series on demography, trade, and conflict
In 2023, I published the first edition of 'Baby Race: Are National Birthrates a Blessing or a Curse?' as volume 1 of my 'Thinking About the World Series.' These academic books are to provide new insights and perspectives on contemporary social, political, and economic issues.
Freedom Matters Today
Freedom Matters Today looks at freedom from a Christian perspective. To date, I have written and published ten books through my imprint of Hidden Road Publishing, on subjects like the conflict in Gaza and Ukraine, American Christian Nationalism, Christian spirituality, and Covid Hysteria.
Jesus for Busy People
Jesus for Busy People is daily podcast on the authenticity, identity, spirituality, and freedom of Jesus. No Agenda, No Politics, Just Jesus.

Frequently Asked Questions
In 2025, I am beginning a new daily podcast called 'Jesus for Busy People.' It will be a 5-minute daily reflection on the person of Jesus, focusing on four themes that resonate with people today: spirituality, authenticity, identity, and freedom. I am also involved in the translation project for 'The Third Tsunami' which in Japanese is titled 'The Red Bridge.'
The sequel for The Third Tsunami is approaching a halfway point in the text, and I am doing historical research for the sequel of The Curse of Crooked River.
There are two. The first is a book on the history of American trade policy and the second is a book on Christian Nationalism in America.
